About Me
My name is Saeed Noursalehi. I live in Redmond, Washington and I am a software engineer. I am married but don’t have any kids. I like to ride my bicycle, play racquetball, go hiking, and basically engage in any outdoor activity.
One of my main goals has been to try to establish financial independence. I like programming and even usually enjoy my job, but I would rather know that I’m at my job because I want to be rather than because I need the paycheck.
About this Website
The purpose of this website is to track my efforts and results in developing a trading strategy that produces consistent profits. I will post all of my actual trades, with explanations of why I entered and exited those positions, and will track my results publicly. This is partly to hold myself accountable (it’s easier to avoid making emotional trades when I know I’ll have to explain myself later), and also to allow others to follow along and know exactly what works and what doesn’t.
I have been trading stocks and options for almost 3 years with mixed results. I have had times where I have followed my system and done really well, and other times where I have traded more haphazardly and had big losses. My goal is to identify what techniques work and what techniques don’t work using the scientific method of:
- Form a hypothesis, e.g. a certain technical analysis technique is a valid reason to enter a trade.
- Perform experiments, e.g. do 20 or more trades based on the technique that is being tested
- Analyze results, e.g. success rate, P/L, etc for this type of trade
- Form conclusions, e.g. should this technique become a permanent addition to my trading plan?
Nearly all of my trades will involve stock options since that is my preferred instrument for my active trading account. However, I believe all of the techniques described here for developing and refining a trading strategy should apply to any financial instrument.
